Assumptions
What this page models
- £10,000 current balance in funds
- £100 monthly contribution, so 12 fund trades are modelled
- No US-stock FX assumption
At smaller balances, percentage platform fees are small in pounds: 0.15% of £10,000 is £15 a year. Flat subscriptions work the other way round and can cost more than the percentage platforms charge at this size, which is why the flat-fee platforms that dominate the £100,000 scenario sit further down this list.
Minimum fees matter at this size too. Dodl applies a £1 per month minimum and Vanguard charges £4 per month below £32,000, so the effective percentage can be higher than the headline rate. The model includes platform, online dealing, and FX fees where relevant, and excludes fund ongoing charges, bid-offer spreads, stamp duty where applicable, and any market movement.
