Worked fee scenarios

These pages turn common UK Stocks & Shares ISA fee questions into concrete, calculator-backed examples rather than generic "best ISA" noise.

Methodology

How it works

Fees are estimated from publicly available provider pricing pages. The model includes platform or account fees on your current balance, 12 annual trades when monthly contributions are entered, and FX fees when the US-stock assumption is enabled. Fee drag assumes 5% annual growth.

This is not a performance simulator, tax advice, or investment advice. Real-world fees can differ if a provider applies temporary promos, product-specific discounts, or details this calculator does not ask for.

See the full methodology and exclusions, including the provider verification table and pricing sources.

FAQ

Common traps

Why are some providers hidden when I hold funds?

Some ISAs offer shares and ETFs but no open-ended funds. Others are ETF-only. If you hold index or mutual funds, those providers are hidden by default because funds and ETFs are not automatically interchangeable.

Why do some providers appear more than once?

Freetrade is shown by plan variant because the subscription changes the effective annual cost and FX rate. interactive investor is shown once because the model switches from Core to Plus automatically above £100,000.

Why is Dodl not using its temporary fee holiday?

Dodl's current 12-month ISA fee holiday depends on qualifying funding before 30 April 2026. This calculator uses Dodl's standard recurring fee so the ranking is not distorted by a short-term promotion.

Does this include fund ongoing charges?

No. Fund ongoing charges are product-level costs charged by the fund manager, not the platform. This calculator focuses on wrapper-level and trading costs.
